Bard Dulex

The Bard Ventralex Hernia Patch is a self-expanding prosthetic patch that can be used for repairing small hernias and closing trocar site defects. The device allows for an intra-abdominal tension free repair that may reduce the chance of post-op pain.
Bard® Ventralex® Hernia Patch

The Bard Ventralex Hernia Patch is the first prosthesis specifically designed for small ventral, umbilical, and epigastric hernia repairs. It is a self-expanding polypropylene & ePTFE patch with a memory recoil ring and placement straps indicated for:

  • Hernia repairs requiring reinforcement with a nonabsorbable support material
  • Repair of soft tissue deficiencies, including deficiencies caused by trocars

This umbilical hernia patch was designed to build on the benefits of the Composix® Kugel® patch with product features such as:

  • Positioning straps to facilitate placement and suturing.
  • Dual action - the polypropylene mesh side encourages tissue ingrowth into the abdominal wall while the ePTFE layer, with sub-micronal porosity, minimizes tissue attachment to the mesh’s posterior side.
  • Memory recoil ring enables the patch to be folded and later “pop open” and lay flat after insertion into the intra-abdominal space.

The Bard Ventralex Hernia Patch allows the physician to avoid the lateral dissection needed to develop a pre-peritoneal pocket. Post-operative pain may be reduced because the Bard Ventralex Hernia Patch requires minimal dissection when placed intra-abdominally and minimal suturing to secure the prosthesis.

The Bard Ventralex Hernia Patch empowers physicians, giving them a product that may be used in a tension-free repair of the smallest hernia defects.
